Est. 2026 · Under the Canvas
A rustic bar & restaurant where the grill smoke drifts under a well-worn awning, and every plate is fired fresh in the open air.
Our Story
Tucked beneath a canvas roof and a canopy of cherry trees, La Awning began in 2026 as a one-tent operation with a two-burner grill and a stubborn belief that the best meals happen outdoors. We're still exactly that — small, unpretentious, and proudly rustic.
There's no grand dining hall here. Just a snug lounge under the awning, string lights, potted flowers on every table, and a door left open to the garden. Guests tuck into worn armchairs while the grill hisses just a few feet away.
We seat few, we fuss over every plate, and we've never once owned a tablecloth we didn't spill something on.
Where the Magic Happens
One open-flame grill, one trusty oven, and a chef who refuses to cook indoors if it can be helped. This is as open-fire and honest as cooking gets.
What They're Saying
Three notoriously hard-to-please, permanently on-site food critics keep the kitchen honest. They review every single plate that leaves the grill — nose first.
“I have inspected every bacon barm to leave this kitchen since 2026 and I can confirm: the bacon is consistently excellent. I sat directly under the pass to make sure of it.”
“The chicken goujons are, in my professional opinion, the finest thing ever cooked on this grill. I gave a full five-star performance of sitting very patiently to prove it.”
“Understated, honest, rustic cooking. I reviewed the pork steaks from underneath the table and found no notes. None. I would like more.”
Around the Grounds
Come Say Hello
Open rain or shine — we've got a canvas roof for a reason. Walk-ins welcome, though the critics do get first pick of the scraps.
